Purpose

Action 1.1.2 "Investments in fishing vessels without increasing their fishing capacity" falls under Specific Objective 1.1 "Strengthening economically, socially and environmentally sustainable fishing activities", of Priority 1 "Promoting sustainable fisheries and the restoration and conservation of aquatic biological resources" of the Fisheries, Aquaculture and Maritime Programme (PALYTH) 2021-2027.

The Action supports operations involving works on fishing vessels and the procurement of equipment.

Eligible Investments

Eligible for financial support are expenditures which:

  • Do not increase the fishing capacity of the vessel
  • Do not increase the vessel's ability to locate fish
  • Are not necessary for compliance with the requirements of EU legislation in force at the time of submission of the application for support, including requirements arising from the EU's obligations under multiannual management plans

Beneficiaries

Eligible beneficiaries are owners — either as sole proprietorships or as legal entities (including co-ownership arrangements) — of fishing vessels engaged professionally in fishing on an active fishing vessel (holding a valid professional fishing licence), including inland waters fishing.

Application Submission

Applications for funding are submitted by potential Beneficiaries through the Integrated State Aid Management Information System (OPSKE), at app.opske.gr.

The duration for implementation and completion of the submitted proposals/Operations is set at eighteen (18) months from the date of issue of the inclusion decision, with the possibility of extension of up to six (6) months in fully justified cases.

Area of application: All of Greece.

Aid Intensity

The aid intensity ranges from 50% to 85% of the eligible budget, depending on the specific characteristics of the investment and the beneficiary, as set out in the Call.

Eligible Expenditure

Operations involving works on fishing vessels and equipment procurement fall under the following six categories:

  • Category A: Improvement of the safety of fishers on board fishing vessels
  • Category B: Improvement of the health conditions of fishers on board fishing vessels
  • Category C: Improvement of the hygiene of fishers on board fishing vessels
  • Category D: Improvement of the working conditions of fishers on board fishing vessels
  • Category E: Improvement of the hydrodynamics of the vessel's hull
  • Category F: Improvement of the quality and hygiene of fish catches that add value to the produced products
