Financial Consultant (Consultant / Senior Consultant)

Introduction

We are strengthening the Corporate Finance department of MDC Stiakakis. The role spans three areas: outsourced financial management, business plans and viability studies, corporate transformations.

What these share is that analysis is never an end in itself: it results in a recommendation, which is then presented and substantiated before management teams, shareholders, banks and investors.

Scope of the role

Outsourced financial management

Monthly reporting cycle for a portfolio of clients: results, cash flows, key ratios, budget variances.
Cash flow planning and working capital management.
Preparation of budgets and rolling forecasts, product and service costing, pricing policy.
Presentation of findings to client management and their translation into specific actions.

Business plans and viability studies

Financial models for new lending, restructuring of existing debt, appraisal of new or existing operations.
Analysis of financial statements and operating metrics, scenario building and sensitivity analysis.
Preparation of the financing file and support in negotiating terms with banks, funds and private investors. Initially under the guidance of a senior colleague, with a view to full ownership.

Corporate transformations

Selection of the appropriate structure (merger, demerger, conversion of legal form, contribution of a business division) based on cost-benefit analysis, tax incentives and operational rationale.
Coordination of the process with accountants, notaries, statutory auditors and the General Commercial Registry (GEMI), with responsibility for meeting deadlines.

The first six months

Months 1-2: taking over the reporting of two existing clients, under supervision. Months 3-4: a first business plan with full ownership of the financial model. Month 6: assignment of a client portfolio and participation in a bank negotiation.

What we are looking for

Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience along one of the following paths: business consulting, corporate credit or credit analysis in banking, audit, an accounting function with responsibility for budgeting and reporting, or investment-programme advisory with a financial analysis component.
Financial modelling in Excel: three-statement model, debt service schedule, sensitivity analysis.
Ability to read a trial balance and a balance sheet in depth: how a figure is built up and where variances originate.
Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audiences.
Fluent Greek and excellent English, written and spoken.
Driving licence and availability for client visits across Crete.

Also valued

Postgraduate degree in Finance, or CFA / ACCA, completed or in progress.
Experience in business valuation or due diligence.
Knowledge of the Greek corporate transformations framework and its tax implications.
Power Query or Power BI.
Use of AI tools in a professional setting: structured prompting, working with files and data, repeatable workflows for deliverables, verification of output.
Experience in hospitality, tourism, manufacturing or trade.

What this role is not

This is strictly a full-time employment position, based at our offices in Heraklion. Freelance or contractor arrangements are not considered.
It is not the sale of insurance or investment products.
It is not an accounting position, nor purely the management of EU co-funded grant applications, although it does include viability studies for investment projects.
